Why would a photograph from GlimmerGlass Photography be a worthwhile service to offer to Next Step newborns? Can a simple newborn session provide value for a family who has so many other pressing needs that come with having a newborn? How does one image created by a stranger with a camera have any more value than the 200 they already took on their phone?
For myself, as the photographer meeting new people for the first time, I believe my service provides a value in fostering a welcoming and caring community atmosphere. As an experienced newborn photographer, when I gently and expressively comfort and pose a newborn and especially with his or her new mother, the connection is so powerful to see through my lens that it deeply inspires my belief in my craft. Capturing images in this way creates incredible memories for mom every time she will look back at them because these sessions are intentional experiences.
The hassle and awkwardness of leaving the house with a newborn, preparing a diaper bag, loading the car, to go get photos. Really? What a pain. But it is also good practice for parents to feel comfortable getting out into the world with their newborn. After hectically getting out the door, arriving to a portrait experience is truly an unexpected delight and the good memories will last long after the diapers and car seats are gone. Families who choose to have these stylized images created with me may find that these portraits become an important piece of their child’s history because it is on location where anxious nerves may have been soothed over an unplanned but welcomed pregnancy.
I am grateful to Next Step for all the work they do for women and thankful for their trust in my photography skills with their newborn clients. They show unmatched support for the value of motherhood as well as support for the art of capturing tender newborn images. I feel it is also important to show off to the world our pride in the miracle of new life, assuring new moms that we all enjoy the company of newborns. It is an amazing and incredibly short span of time when our lives are purest in the smallest, most vulnerable stage.
